The Wolstanton Retail Park an out-of-town shopping destination was built in the late 1980’s on the site of the former Wolstanton Colliery.

The catchment area for the park includes Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent and the Potteries.

Amongst the shops on the park are Marks & Spencer which includes clothing, home furnishings and food sections, Matalan offering clothing and homeware, and B&M with a wide range of food and drink plus toys, homewares and health & beauty products,

The park has plenty of free parking a petrol station and Starbucks Coffee outlet.

The colliery shaft was originally sunk and 1916 to exploit the iron ore and coal seams below ground. Immediately prior to closure in 1986 the colliery had the deepest shafts in Britian and the underground workings were the deepest in western Europe.
