The ‘Spirit of the Future’ obelisk on the Festival Park at Etruria in Stoke-on-Trent. It was commissioned by Streetly Brick & Tile Limited.

The obelisk is constructed from red and blue Staffordshire bricks manufactured ty Streetly Brick & Tile Limited. It is 8 metres in height has a stone plaque at its base which records the name of the obelisk and company which sponsored its construction.

The obelisk was completed and installed at Etruria in 1986 to coincide with second Garden Festival of England which opened in May of that and was hosted by Festival Park site.

The Festival Park transformed a derelict area which was formerly the site of a Steelworks and this optimistic forward-looking initiative is the reason for the naming of the obelisk.
