Springfield Mile

Located at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. It is one of only a few remaining one mile dirt tracks which hold motorsports events. ARCA stock cars, USAC Silver Crown cars, UMP late models, and AMA flat track motorcycles currently hold special events here. Past winning drivers include greats such as A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Al Unser, Chuck Gurney, and Rodger Ward.

This is the second one mile track to exist in this location. The original track was built in the 1850's. It ran east-west with the grandstands on the north end. The first auto race held here was on the old track in 1910. The current track was built in 1927, running north-south with the grandstands on the west end.

During the state fair, the track also hosts harness horse races.
