The nation's largest indoor motocross facility and one of Connecticut's largest free standing buildings collapsed due to the weight of snow and ice.
No one was inside the building when it fell. The day before the collapse, 140 riders were competing there, making it very fortunate the incident happened when it did.
The 200,000 sq. ft. structure opened in 2006 at a price of $15 million. In addition to motocross racing, it had a 1/5 mile oval track for karts and various classes of cars.
In the summer of 2011, Mototown held races on an outdoor track for a short time before it was shut down due to noise complaints. It is unknown if the indoor facility will be rebuilt.
