Deaths at Melilla Border Crossing – June 2022

On Saturday 25th June 2022 the Guardian Newspaper reported that the number of deaths at the Melilla border crossing the previous day had risen to 23.

Melilla is a Spanish enclave in north Africa and has in recent years become something of magnet for migrants form sub-Saharan Africa trying to reach Europe.

The mass incursion at the crossing on Friday was the first since the Spanish and Moroccan government had mended their diplomatic relations in May 2022.
