Forum of Philippopolis

In the centre of the modern-day city of Plovdiv in modern-day Bulgaria lies the ruins of Roman public, administrative, commercial and religious buildings dating back to the Roman period of the city when it was called Philippopolis.

The forum was built during the 1st century AD under the reign of Emperor Vespasian. The foundations, walls and columns of the buildings remain today and are open to the public.
