Between 15 April 2023 and 28 April 2023, a team of amateur radio operators from Latvia and India were on Kavaratti Island on the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
The team (YL2GM, VU2CDP, VU2CPL and Zigrida (XYL) used the callsign – VU7W while on the island and were activate on all amateur radio bands from 160m to 6m.
Kavaratti Island is off the west coast of Indian state of Kerala it is approximately 404km (218 miles) from the mainland city of Kochi. The island is approximately 1.2km (0.75 miles) wide and 5.6km (3.5 miles) Long. It is very low lying with a mean elevation of 0m (zero metres).
