On Friday 18th May 2023, Daniel PY2TDB, a radio amateur from Sao Paulo, Brazil reached the summit of Pico do Garrafão and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 17 contacts in total working on the 10m amateur radio band.
The summit of Pico do Garrafão is 2359 metres (7740 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
