Record Hailstone – July 2023

At roughly 21:00 UTC on 24 July 2023, a 19cm diameter hailstone was found in the town of Azzano Decimo, in northern Italy. This broke the record for Europe’s largest hailstone, which was found on 19 July 2023, in Carmignano di Brenta, Italy and measured 16cm in diameter.

Azzano Decimo commune is in the Province of Pordenone in the Friuli Venezia region of Italy approximately 90km (56mi) northwest of the city of Trieste.
