The Border Stone of Ernaz

The Border Stone of Ernaz (StreetView)
The tribute of the three cows is a traditional meeting at 10am every July 13th atop the PyrenÉes Mountains where the border stone of Ernaz sits between Spain and France.

It is believed a short war in 1375 between the French people of the Baretous Valley and the Spanish people of the Roncal Valley was sparked over grazing rights between two farmers. The tradition of the tribute has survived to this day and is a good reason for a celebratory feast and goodwill between the countries.
