In preparation for a 4-lane extension of the B49 a new bridge was built to connect the city of Solms with the B49 crossing-free. The bridge is open and can be used by the public, but it leads to nowhere.

According to officials the construction of the extension and thereby the finishing of the bridge has been stopped because a nearby company is afraid that the trembling of more traffic on the B49 could lead to damages of their sensitive machines.

The satire magazine "extra 3" of NDR nicknamed the bridge "The Bridge To Nowhere".
