The stork nest of Malena and Klepetan

The two White Storks Malena and Klepetan from the Croatian village Brodski Varos became World famous after their story was shown in news around the World.

About 20 years ago Malena was shot but survived but it's right wing was damadged so it can't fly anymore. Instead of flying to and from southern Africa it was adopted by a local resident, Stjepan Vokic, in his house. There it was living in the winter time while Klepetan was in Africa.

Vokic has placed some boards at the nest so Malena could walk around outide the nest. He also mede a sun and rain protection over the nest..

Around March 20. Stjepan Vokic helps Malena to the nest and she waits for Klepetan to return the 8000 miles flight. This stork love story has lasted since then.

But this year it was the last time Klepetan came back. It was sick and old. But it wanted to say goodbye to Malena, it flew away and died somewhere.

All these years this lovely couple have been together they have got over 60 baby Storks.
