Between 10 April 2023 and 22 April 2023, a small ‘scouting group’ of radio amateurs from the Lagenaria DX Group was in Timor-Leste on the island of Timor.
The scouting group was sorting out arrangements for the Group’s planned DXpedition later in the year.
The group used the callsign – 4W1A while on the island and was activate on CW, SSB and Digital modes across the 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 10m and 6m amateur radio bands. They made over 43,000 contacts during their stay.
The DXpedition went to Timor-Leste or East Timor which geographically forms the eastern half of the island of Timor.
The island of Timor lies in the southeast of the Indonesian archipelago and off the north coast of Australia.
