Wackerbarth Castle was built in the 18th century – at the height of Dresden's Baroque period – at the behest of Count August Christoph von Wackerbarth. Since he was one of Augustus the Strong's closest confidants, Wackerbarth Castle was the venue for many lavish parties hosted by the Saxon ruling families. Wackerbarth Castle is home to Europe's first ever adventure winery, presenting the 850-year tradition of wine growing in Saxony.
