Canaan Fair Speedways

Two oval auto racing tracks are closing down at the end of the 2013 racing season after the property was sold to a new owner. One track is a 1/4 mile dirt oval, and the other is a 1/3 mile paved oval.

Racing on the current dirt oval dates back to 1987. The paved track was added in 1996. Each weekend during the summer, various classes of stock cars and modifieds raced here.

The new owner is currently weighing his options for the future of the land. The current tracks were losing money in recent years, and the new owner hopes to create a new motorsports facility that will be profitable. One reported option is to build a road racing circuit. There will be no racing in 2014 while improvements are made to the property and the new owner's plans are finalized.
