Ruth Paine house

Ruth Paine house (StreetView)
This typical ranch style house was built in 1956 and played a part in the November 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The owner of the house, Ruth Paine, had befriended the Russian wife of Lee Harvey Oswald, Marina. Marina Oswald and her two young daughters were living in this house at the time of the assassination and Lee was a frequent visitor. He was allowed to store some of his things in the garage, including the rifle he used to kill the president. Lee Oswald spent the night before the assassination in this house, retrieved the rifle from the garage in the morning, then carried it, wrapped as 'curtain rods', about a half a block down the street for his ride to work at the Texas School Book Depository building in downtown Dallas.
