Archeological dig in progress

Archeological dig in progress (StreetView)
Bamburgh's incredibly rich and varied past makes this one of the most important Anglo-Saxon archaeological sites in the world. Experts from across the globe come to Bamburgh to unearth its secrets and piece together history. Here is the site of the Bamburgh Research Projects annual excavations started by Dr Brian Hope Taylor in 1959. During the summer months watch archaeologists as they uncover Bamburgh's exciting past. Trenches excavated here yielded treasures including the famous Bamburgh Beast and Bamburgh Sword.
