The circuit is 4.54 km (2.82 mi), has 19 turns and section where a section of the track crosses another section via a bridge.

The circuit is named after the former Argentinian racing driver, Juan Manuel Fangio, who was born in Balcarce. Fangio also won 5 Formula One World Championships (1951, 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957). Fanigo had the record for most championship wins untill Michael Schumacher won his 7 championships. Fangio is still in 2nd as no other F1 driver has won (except for Schumacher) 5 championships.
