This underground facility, home of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, was built to withstand a nuclear attack and will soon be mostly inactive. Most of the operations and personnel based here will be moving to nearby Peterson Air Force Base. There will be support personnel working at Cheyenne to keep the base maintained as a backup should the need ever arise to bring it online as a secure place of operations.

US Military to leave the complex - Why does this sound like one of those potential "Well, who could have anticipated that?" situations a few years later after Peterson gets blown away by man or nature.
