This sign is on the outside wall of Congleton Town Hall on Lawton Street.

The sign was erected in 1986 to celebrate nine hundred years of Norman heritage in Congleton.

The Domesday Sign displays the information that Congleton is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 which was complied for the new King of England, William I, also known as William The Conqueror.
