The Florida Civil Commitment Center is a mental health/correctional facility which houses civilly committed (involuntary committed) sex offenders. It is operated by private company, Wellpath, formerly known as Correct Care Solutions under a contract with the Florida Department of Children and Families. They took over operations in 2006 and there are currently 720 beds.
The center has housed sexually violent predators since 1999, when The Jimmy Ryce Act was signed into law by Florida Governor, Lawton Childs.
