Giorgio Clerici was a Milanese marquis who built Villa Carlotta is a villa in Northern Italy on Lake Como.
It was later the home of Napoleonic politician Giambattista Sommariva and then Charlotte, Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen, after whom the villa is named.
