Rental cottage Serendipity was used as the fictional Rodanthe Inn in the 2008 Nicholas Sparks film, Nights in Rodanthe which starred Richard Geere, Diane Lane, James Franco, and Christopher Meloni.
Serendipity was badly damaged in a November 2009 Nor'easter storm.
