On Thursday 28th March 2024 at 13:55 UTC, Francois ON4LO, a radio amateur from Belgium, made contact with Jarkko OH6JUM/P, a radio amateur from Finland, who was operating from Rauman saaristo (OHFF-0801), on the 40m amateur radio band. Jarkko made a total of 246 contacts while at the reserve.
Rauman saaristo (OHFF-0801)[Rauman archipelago], is a protected area of 5,350 hectares located on the west coast of Finland covering some 300 islands close to the town of Rauma.
The reserve was designated in 2015 as a Special Area of Conservation under the EU Habitats Directive and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
The Natura 2000 network aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
