A Virgin Trains Class 390 ‘Pendolino’ on the West Coast Main Line.

The Class 390 ‘Pendolino” was first introduced on the West Coast Main Line in 2002 as a replacement for BR Class 86, 87 and 90 locomotives and Mark 2 & Mark 3 carriages.

Here on Street View in January 2015 a Virgin Trains Class 390 ‘Pendolino’ is seen in Lancaster Station.

The Class 390 is an electrical multiple unit (EMU) built by Alstom and Fiat Ferroviaria at Washwood Heath, Birmingham and Italy. The Class 390 was designed to have a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h) is only permitted to operate at a maximum speed of 125 mph (200 km/h).
