Rising Tripod Camera Angle from "War of the Worlds"

Rising Tripod Camera Angle from "War of the Worlds" (StreetView)
This streetview is what the cameras in the movie were shooting when the tripod rose up from the corner of Ferry and Merchant, where St. Stephan's United Church is located. This area, where the crowd in the movie is standing, is known as the Portuguese Ironbound District.

To give you an idea of how tall the tripod was supposed to be, it appears by naked eye that the tripod was about twice as high as the top of the steeple of the church. The height of the steeple, by naked eye, appears to be about 9 stories high. So, the tripod was probably supposed to be in the range of 16-20 stories tall.

If you watch the footage of the tripod rise and attack, you will see some of the storefronts that appear here in the Portuguese Ironbound District.
