The lion hill, which is the main memorial monument of the Battle of Waterloo, indicates the spot where the Prince of Orange was wounded. A total of 226 stairs leads to the top of the monument where one can enjoy a beautiful view of the entire battlefield.

Apparently Arthur Wellesley, First Duke of Wellington, returned here years later and was upset because they'd spoiled his battlefield by removing earth to make the mound. I wonder what Europe would look like today if it had gone the other way that day. A close run thing.
