The Trafalgar Hotel started its life as 'The Oddfellows Arms'. The Landlord from 1846 to 1857 was James Gale. Mr Cowin from Port-e-Vullen took over as Landlord in 1857. At this time the Trafalgar was next door to The Stanley which today is further along the West Quay nearer the Swing-bridge.

By 1871 the name and the licence had transferred to larger premises at 8 West Quay. The Landlord was now Horatio Nelson Brown who was the son of Charles Brown who had been the Miller at the North Ramsey Windmill.

The present name was acquired at sometime before 1894 and the licencee was Mr R. C. Nelson whose father ran the Albion and the Waterloo; two licenced premises also in Ramsey at that time.
