Sidney Samole was the former owner of Excalibur Electronics. In the late 1990s, Samole proposed to move the World Chess Hall of Fame to Miami. Following construction of the new building, it was reopened in 2001, and renamed the World Chess Hall of Fame and Sidney Samole Museum.
Samole's widow still owns the home.
