English musician and producer Martin Gore’s house is in Santa Barbara, California not far from his Electric Ladyboy studio in Santa Monica. He is best known as the singer and principal songwriter for the electronic rock band Depeche Mode.

Martin Gore was born in London, England to an African-American father, though raised by his English mother and stepfather. After teaching himself to play keyboard, he was recruited by former classmate Andy Fletcher to join Depeche Mode (at the time known as Composition of Sound) in 1980.

Depeche Mode released their first album, Speak & Spell, in 1981 and it reached number 10 on the UK charts. The band continued to perform until Fletcher’s death in 2022. They released 17 Top-10 albums on the UK charts over the years. They are best known in the US for their hit songs “I Just Can’t Get Enough” and “Personal Jesus”, the latter of which was written by Gore. Gore has released two solo albums.

Martin Gore has been married to Kerrilee Kaski since 2014. He was previously married to lingerie designer and model Suzanne Boisvert, from 1994-2006. He has five children between the two marriages. He has been a vegetarian since 1983 for moral and health reasons. In 1993, Gore publicly acknowledged past struggles with alcoholism while dealing with seizures while on the band’s Devotional Tour.
