Mandelbaum is a Harvard-educated attorney who formed Interstate Properties investment partnership with Steven Roth and Russell Wight in 1968. Today Interstate owns shares in Vornado Realty and Alexander's. Later he joined fellow real estate investor Zygi Wilf in the $600 million purchase of NFL's Minnesota Vikings.
He is among the richest Americans and has appeared on the forbes 400 list.
