Deborah Joy Simon is the daughter of Mel Simon, the billionaire shopping mall developer who started and ran Simon Properties, the largest public real estate development company in the country. He was also a co-owner of the Indiana Pacers. He had a net worth of about $1.3 billion at the time of his death in 2010 at age 82.
