The award-winning photographer, Jay Maisel, purchased this building, known as the Germania Bank Building, in 1966 for $102,000. The building is now worth an estimated $50M. Maisel used the mansion as his own private residence, studio, and gallery. In the mid 1960s, Maisel rented the 2nd and 4th floors of the building to artists Adolph Gottlieb and Roy Lichtenstein.

Maisel sold the mansion to real estate investors Aby Rosen and Michael Fuch in early 2014. Rosen and Fuch have re-listed the mansion for sale.

The building was designated a New York City landmark on March 29, 2005.
