Max Grundig (1908 – 1989) was the founder of electronics company Grundig AG. He built an empire after World War II to become a European market leader in home entertainment products and a symbol of West Germany's "Wirtschaftswunder".

In 1984 Grundig sold the majority of his company to Dutch electronics giant Philips.

In 2003, 14 years after his death, its insolvency was announced.

The house is known as Gut Maria Halden. It was built in 1881 by Werner von Siemens, the famous German inventor and industrialist.
