RAF Bassingbourn

Airfield opened in 1938, USAAF 1942-45 & USAF 1950-53. Closed in 1969 and used since for army infantry training. Famed as the base of the B-17F 'Memphis Belle' and immortalised in the wartime film of the same name with many scenes shot here (1990 remake filmed at Binbrook).
