Amite Street north to Fortification Street and Mill Street east to Lamar Street: Made up of residences and diversified businesses, the 125-acre neighborhood was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is the largest primarily residential district in Jackson. A variety of styles of architecture include antebellum, Creole, Queen Anne, shotgun and bungalow cottages, as well as business structures representing early 20th century. Once an ongoing restoration project is complete, the area will include an entertainment district.
