Pickwick Drive-In opened in May, 1949. It could accommodate 781 cars, and the screen was 50 feet wide. It was the site of the 1974 world premiere of Mel Brooks’s Blazing Saddles. Guests entered on horses. The drive-in scenes in Grease were filmed here in 1977. The drive-in was closed on September 10, 1989, and torn down in October 1989.
