Preserved LMS Jubilee Class Steam Locomotive (StreetView)
Ex-London, Midland and Scottish Railway (“LMS”) Jubilee Class Steam Locomotive No.5690 “Leander” (British Railways No. 45690) seen in British Railways ‘Black’ Livery at Preston Station in April 2019.

Built at the Crewe works of the LMS in March 1936 and named for HMS Leander and in turn after the Greek Hero.

The Jubilee Class was designed by William Stainer, the chief mechanical engineer of the LMS, with a Whyte notation of 4-6-0.

Leander was withdrawn from service with British Railways in 1964. It was saved from being broken up and at the time it was seen in Preston was owned by the Beet family and based at Carnforth.
