This filming location was the home of the title character in the 2013 film Carrie, starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, and Judy Greer. It is the third film adaptation of the Stephen King novel "Carrie" written in 1974.
The front of the house was redesigned for the film, with the porch removed, and the doorway re-positioned. Other scenes of the movie were filmed in the greater Toronto area.
