John R. Drexel III was a member of the Philadelphia Drexel family who made their fortune in banking and founded Drexel University.
Former First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy, spent the night before her wedding to John F. Kennedy at the home. She was close friends wit Drexel's wife, Noreen.
John passed away in 2007 and Noreen in 2012.
The home was undergoing renovations by the new owners when, on 26 FEB 2016, the home caught fire and burned down.
