Mortimer Fleishhacker was an American businessman, civic leader and philanthropist. In 1924, he created and helped fund the Fleishhacker Pool in San Francisco, for many years the world's largest outdoor saltwater swimming pool.
Built between 1911 and 1935, Fleishhacker created this estate, known as Green Gables. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places since September 26, 1986. Originally set on 45 acres, the 10,000 sqft main house was created in the English manor-style. Over the years, the property expanded to it's current 74 acres with a total of 7 homes, 3 swimming pools, a tennis court, artist's studio, barn, lilly pond, and a Roman reflecting pool. In 1965, the estate served as the venue for the 20th anniversary celebration of the United Nations.

As kids we used to ride our horses past this property and once we tied up our horses up at the fence below this property and sneaked in to peak at the pool, the staircase and lawns, the house in the background, it was an awesome sight!
