This is the Klinicheskiy Sanatorium. It is situated in the prestigious and picturesque western Suburbs of Moscow along the infamous Rublevo-Uspenkoye-Shosse.

After the Russian Revolution in 1917, after having already selected their Dachas in Rublevka, the countries top leaders decided to build for themselves "2 or 3 good sanatoriums, so as to not spend to much money on treatment in Germany" One of these sanatoriums, designed by the architect Boris Iofan, appears next to the exclusive Village of Barvikha.

For the entire existence of this Sanatorium, Its access has been restricted from ordinary people. Only the highest Party functionaries, Officials, Scientists, writers and artists got to use this as a place of rest and leisure. "Rest In Barvika" became a marker of belonging to Russia's Elite ruling class.

In the 1990s, Boris Yeltsin spent almost more time at this Sanatorium than he did at his own residence. It was from here that prime minister Yevgeny Primakov did a lot of his work. He actually met his wife here when she was working as its head of department.

In the 21st century, The land around Barvika was actively sold. The territory of the sanatorium would from then on be pressed by the growing Village of Zhukovka.

As with most post soviet countries the word "Sanatorium" is used to describe recreational resort type facilities that also offer medical services. it can be thought of as a spa that also provides healthcare.

This sanatorium, in addition to its wide range of complex healthcare services, has a number of luxurious amenities like a steam room and sauna, pool and fitness rooms, a library, meeting rooms, rental boats and bicycles. It also has its own hair dressing salon.
