This house appears in the movie "Eight Million Ways to Die," with Jeff Bridges, as the house of Angel Maldanado. It also appears as Fielding Chase's house, in the Columbo episode "Butterfly in Shades of Gray"

It says at the end of the article that Larry Ellison bought it for 22 million. Also, on an interesting side note; the estate was used as almost the third guest star (after William Shatner) in a 1994 episode called "Butterflies in shades of gray" where Lt Columbo went on and on what a great house it was, then he and Shatner ' s character Fielding Chase, rode the little tram up the hill together :)

I had a chance to take a tour of the first house on the left on Cross Creek when it belonged to B Wayne Hughes. It was supposedly worth $40 million in the mid 90’s. The master bath had a safe room, their was a house for the horse caretaker, a guest house and the main house. It was pretty cool but not as big as I thought it would be. You could see the Castle House very clearly from the back.
