Pete Buttigieg's House

Pete Buttigieg is an American politician and former U.S. Navy intelligence officer who is President-elect Joe Biden's nominee for the position of United States Secretary of Transportation.

He was the 32nd mayor of South Bend, Indiana, from 2012 to 2020, earning him the nickname "Mayor Pete"

Buttigieg is a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, a Harvard graduate, Rhodes Scholar, the country's youngest mayor of a city of over 100,000 citizens, and is openly gay. Mayor Buttigieg speaks Norwegian, Spanish, Italian, Maltese, Arabic, Dari, and French.

In competing for his party's nomination in the 2020 presidential election, he became the first openly gay Democratic candidate ever to run for President of the United States. In February 2020, he became the first LGBTQ candidate to win a state's presidential primary, edging out Bernie Sanders by .1% of the vote in Iowa.
