This was the last home of the legendary British actor. He is perhaps best known for starring in the Carry On films alongside Joan Sim's, Kenneth Williams, Sid James and Hattie Jacques. Hawtrey died from cardiovascular illness on 27 October 1988. A plaque was erected on the outside of the house in his memory.
