32nd President Franklin D. Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt used this home on Campobello Island, in the Canadian provence of New Brunswick, as a summer retreat.

The home was built in 1897 and was given as a wedding present to Franklin and Eleanor by Franklin's mother, Sara Roosevelt.

Eleanor sold the home in 1952 to Occidental Petroleum owner Armand Hammer. Following Eleanor's death in 1962, Hammer deeded the property to the governments of the United States and Canada for the creation of International Park. While the island itself is part of Canada, it is connected to the tip of Maine via the island's only bridge, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Bridge.
