Harry Einstein was an actor and comedian, best known for his character, Parkyakarkus. A specialist in Greek dialect comedy, he became famous as the Greek chef Nick Parkyakarkus on the Eddie Cantor and Al Jolson radio programs, and later on a program of his own. He appeared in eleven films (as Parkyakarkas or a close variant) from 1936 to 1945. In 1958, during a roast in honor of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Einstein suffered a fatal heart attack, on the dais just after completing set of jokes. Einstein collapsed into the lap of Milton Berle, who shouted "Is there a doctor in the house?", originally taken as a joke by the audience.

Einstein was married to Thelma Leeds, a singer and actress.

Einstein and Leeds were the parents of the actors and comedians, the late writer, Charles Einstein, the late Bob Einstein, known for his Super Dave Osborne character and as Marty Funkhouser on Curb your Enthusiasm, and actor and comedian Albert Brooks.
