Richard Blumenthal is the senior United States Senator from the state of Connecicut, a position in which he has served since 2011. He was Attorney General of Connecticut from 1991 to 2011.

From 1970 to 1976, Blumenthal served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, where he attained the rank of sergeant.

Blumenthal’s father-in-law is real estate investor Peter Malkin, who's company owns the Empire State Building, among many other assets.
