Richard Proenneke 5/14/1916 - 4/20/2003 was an American who lived in his wilderness cabin on Twin Lakes, Alaska for thirty years. He survived by hunting, fishing and raising his own food while also having supplies flown in occasionally. He documented his lifestyle in journals and film. He later moved away to live in California with his brother. He died there and left his Alaskan cabin to the National Park Service.

The cabin can be visited through the National Park Service.
